One mans Quest for Cosplay Perfection...

Building the Ironman Mk.VII Avengers Armor - Part 4
The Resin and Fiberglass coats are all done at last. Did have a bit of trouble since I should have done it as one complete section rather than 3 separate parts. The warping that occurred meant I had to heat the parts up and bend them back into position and tape it together so it would hold its shape overnight (as you can see from the picture) It’s a learning curve so it’s something I will remember for next time. Anyways, time to take this apart and start the bondo work.

Building the Ironman Mk.VII Avengers Armor - Part 3

Just about finished the pepakura part of this helmet now :) Got the jaw finished and lined up, the only thing I’ve not attached it the ear pods just so when I’m doing bondo i can get into the corners easier and then attach them afterwards. Next comes Resin coat and then Fiberglass.

Building the Ironman Mk.VII Avengers Armor - Part 2

Another update on the helmet. Just managed to get the back and sides done minus a few detail bits, just have to make and attach the jaw and the can move onto the chest plate :)

Building the Ironman Mk.VII Avengers Armor - Part 1

Just a quick update, manages to get the crown cap and air vent made and attached. Really starting to come together now :)

May 20th, 2012: Ironman Mk.VII Avengers Armour.

This is my new cosplay project and by far my most ambitious project to date. I aim to make the Ironman armour from The Avengers movie. (shown above)

I’ll be posting pictures of it as I progress through the project. I will be build items for commissions in between so I will be pretty busy for a while.

This will hopefully be ready in time for Amecon 2012 in August.

Wish me luck. Hehehe

JayCosplay : NCR Ranger Helmet build (by Nanahra)

This is a test of an NCR Ranger helmet i built for a convention last year, been repairing it and managed to get the lights working again.

The full costume has been featured on Kotaku, Bethesda Blog and Steam News.

If anyone has any requests for videos regarding the helmet or any other parts of the costume then please let me know, i’ll be happy to try and help via reply videos or PM’s.

tenthousandcubans:   Hi. I'm not new to cosplay, but I'm looking to achieve a cosplay with EVA foam. what tools would I need at minimum to start?

I would get a soldering iron from somewhere cheep, if your in the UK then Argos do cheap ones, if not then try HomeDepot, Its a great tool to burn in scratches and battle damage or just to add fine details.

Get a craft knife, i recommend ones that look like scalpels, you can be more accurate with them when your cutting and then blades tend to cut better than box cutters.

Acrylic paints to add details but I always spray and matte black coat on the foam before i start. It seals the foam a bit better and helps keep the rest of the paint layers on. Get some old sponges to help blend the paint if your looking to make it look dirty and worn. Some silver paint that you can use the dry brush technique to add scratches and the like if your looking for a more wore torn sort of look.

Other than that the only real expense is getting a Dremmel. They aren’t nessessary but if you want to sand/smooth certain edges it will save you a hell of a lot of time, they are so useful for costume building. I think thats everything really.

Oh before i forget, you can use superglue to bind certain parts but i found from early tests that it can make the foam brittle so i suggest using a hot glue gun, it basically melts the foam together and creates a great connection that is still flexible but you know its not going to fall apart when you move around.

I hope that helps you out. Any more questions then please ask away.

Welcome to New Vegas…
Just a photo manipulation i did to put me in my costume outside of New Vegas. I used the original photograph (find here: [link]) and a really good wallpaper I found and put the two together. It was more for fun than anything.Anyways just wanted to share it.
